Asian Paints along with St+art India Foundation infuse touch into ‘Art’ via Project Sparsh

Asian Paints – Art brings people together by expressing thoughts and feelings that are otherwise incomprehensible. While the bulk of art is visually appealing, pieces that offer the beauty and delight of art to people who cannot see it are rare. This idea of tangible art inspired Project Sparsh, a collaboration between Asian Paints and St+art. Sparsh’s mission is to offer the magic of art to visually challenged youngsters, allowing them to experience it from a whole different perspective.

For more than five decades, Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh has been altering the lives of visually challenged students in Jaipur. Asian Paints and the St+art India Foundation collaborated to create “tactile murals” for the school. This tactility is achieved with Asian Paints’ Royale Play series of textured paints, which transforms ordinary surfaces into tactile language that students can touch and feel.

The effort focuses on making a genuine difference in the lives of these children at their school, which serves as a second home for many of them. The purpose of Sparsh is to expose their young brains to new methods of perceiving art while also sharing their pride in their vivid and cultural heritage.

Outdoor Art

To make the outdoor mural truly unique, they have merged a Rajasthani textile working method, Bandhej, with Braille to underscore their purpose of “Art For All.” The purpose of this painting is to bring together seemingly disparate components – Bandhej and Braille, eyesight and touch – to create a real and compelling statement of “inclusivity.” These murals, created in the tradition of Rajasthani artisans, give students a sense of delight and belonging.

Indoor Art

While not everyone can see art, everyone can feel it. As a result, Asian Paints, in collaboration with St+art India, created a first-of-its-kind “Art Museum” for these children with varying degrees of visual impairment. The interior mural serves as an inspiration for these students, allowing them to experience Rajasthan’s ‘Art & Culture’ through this tactile mural linked with braille for their understanding. Experience the brilliant hues of classic Blue Pottery and Phad Paintings, as well as the detail of textiles displaying Bandhej and Bagru Block Prints, while stories come to life through Kathputli. The indoor exhibition is a complete sensory overload.

Art Workshop

The workshop exhibits artworks created by kids as part of the Sparsh initiative within the Access for All program. It demonstrates every child’s intrinsic ability to discover happiness by giving them the skills and opportunity to express themselves. A tornado of textured paints, creativity, and inspiration combine to produce really one-of-a-kind and memorable events in which people should participate.

“As we continue our long-standing partnership with St+art India Foundation, we are delighted to be a part of the Sparsh initiative at the Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh in Jaipur,” says Mr. Amit Syngle, MD & CEO, Asian Paints Ltd. At Asian Paints, we use art and creativity to promote social inclusion. Sparsh embodies our principles of empathy and the spirit of innovation. Through touch and feel, this program hopes to bring joy and inspiration to visually challenged pupils. We reinvented art and added another level to it by using textured paints to create tactile murals. These murals tell intriguing stories, from Rajasthan’s rich past to Helen Keller’s indomitable spirit, and are accessible to all, especially persons who see the world differently than we do. The Sparsh program, in collaboration with St+art India Foundation, exemplifies our dedication to #ArtForAll.”
