United Way Mumbai and TotalEnergies Foundation champion Road Safety Awareness with Helmet Distribution across 3 cities in India

October 20, 2023; Mumbai, India: United Way Mumbai, a prominent non-profit organization, and TotalEnergies Foundation have joined forces to make Indian roads safer by promoting awareness of road safety among the youth and distributing helmets. This collaborative project spans three bustling cities, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, with a shared vision of reducing road accidents and ensuring the safety of two-wheeler riders. The program involves a multifaceted approach that extends beyond helmet distribution, and imparts knowledge and awareness on helmet safety and its crucial role in saving lives to young riders through training sessions held in active collaboration with local authorities and partnerships with colleges and other community-based organizations. The program has already made significant strides in promoting road safety with the successful distribution of 10,000 helmets across the 3 cities and educating countless young riders about the importance of wearing them.

To mark this milestone, an event was organized on October 13, 2023, with the 10,000th helmet distribution which also trained over 100 youth in road safety. The event set the tone by emphasizing the commitment to road safety and addressed the imperative need for road safety and featured various activities aimed at promoting responsible two-wheeler usage.

Over the past few months, the initiative distributed a remarkable 10,000 helmets to young riders, emphasizing their dedication to road safety and the protection of young lives. The event also featured a distinguished group of individuals recognized for their contributions in various fields along with employees of TotalEnergies who also volunteered at the event in various activities with young students.

Prof. Sushil Shinde, Director of the University of Mumbai’s NSS Cell, and Dr. Sandeep Bharadwaj, Dean of Academics at the Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Management Studies, were in attendance at the event, representing their important contributions in empowering youth, advancing social welfare, and transforming education and the development of young minds. Mr. Olivier Sabrie, Chairman and Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing India, brought his corporate expertise to the event, enriching the discussions on road safety. Ms. Kanchan Dahiya, Vice President of Public Affairs, Communications, and Corporate Social Responsibility at TotalEnergies Marketing India, spoke on the Company’s efforts in promoting sustainability and community welfare through multiple road safety awareness programs.
