Tata Steel Foundation’s RISHTA Project organises ‘Saathiya Samaroh’

Tata Steel Foundation’s RISHTA Project – On September 16, 2023, Tata Steel Foundation’s (TSF) RISTHA hosted an impressive ‘Sathiya Samaroha’ programme at the Balaramprasad Kalyan Mandap in Meramandali. This gathering brought together Peer educators (Adolescents) from 7 Gram Panchayats (GPs) in the Odapada block, indicating a significant step forward in the empowerment and upliftment of local communities. 

Over 65 people attended the program, including peer educators, Anganwadi employees, Anganwadi supervisors, PRI (Panchayati Raj Institution) leaders from neighboring Gram Panchayats, block government officials, and other key players. 

The Sathiya Samaroha program provided a dynamic forum for peer educators to exchange experiences, debate obstacles, and celebrate accomplishments while building confidence, improving leadership abilities, and fostering connections among peers from varied backgrounds. Distinguished guests emphasized crucial topics such as child marriage, substance misuse, and school dropouts, giving insights and partaking in concept retention exercises. A state-level volleyball athlete was also honored, which inspired the Peer educators.

Subash Behera (FTC- write full form) and Binita Nirupamma Toppo of the RISHTA Team organized the event, with assistance from Kabita Dhal, Block Officer, RISHTA, and TSF.Subash Behera, the Field Team Coordinator (FTC), Odapada Block, organized the event in partnership with Binita Nirupamma Toppo of the RISHTA Team. They received invaluable assistance from Kabita Dhal, RISHTA’s Block Officer, as well as aid from TSF. Nibedita Tripathy, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Amitabh Swain, Vice-Chairman, Odapada Block, and Subash Ch. Sahoo, Block Officer for the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) were among those in attendance. 

This program was a success in terms of increasing Peer educators’ confidence and leadership skills, as well as encouraging collaboration and idea sharing across varied locations.
