Ratri Chaupal CSR program launched to create safer spaces for rural women after sunset

Ratri Chaupal CSR program – Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, has created a first-of-its-kind CSR program in India called Ratri Chaupal with the goal of creating safer environments for women living in remote communities. The company is illuminating communal spaces in communities as part of this program to allow women to assemble safely after sunset and attend night school as well as numerous information sessions on health, nutrition, agriculture, women’s safety, government schemes, and financial literacy.

The company has collaborated with Srushti Seva Samiti to establish the pilot project in ten villages in Udaipur’s Mavli block, Rajasthan. Shri Jagdish Raj Shrimali, Honorable Minister of State and Vice Chairman, Rajasthan Labor Advisory Board, launched the project.

The program intends to positively influence over 7,500 women and children in the district through health, nutrition, agricultural techniques, and financial literacy courses. The project also hopes to enhance women’s engagement in night schools and provide enrollment assistance for government programs to village homes.

Nikhil Gupta, Head of Commercial Operations, Marketing, and CSR, Signify Innovations India Limited, commented on the launch, saying, “With a vision to unlock the extraordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world, Signify is committed to making people’s lives safer.” The lack of proper lighting after sunset is one of the most major concerns influencing the safety and well-being of women and families living in villages. Signify will enable women to participate more actively in their local communities with a unique program like Ratri Chaupal, providing them more time to pursue education, social and financial literacy initiatives, and community involvement in a safe atmosphere.”

Shyam Sundar Bhatt, Chairman of Shrushti Seva Samiti, stated at the launch event, “It has been a great collaboration working with Signify to create this unique and impactful Ratri Chaupal program.” Due to a lack of proper lighting, women in villages are frightened to step out after sunset, and as a result, they miss out on opportunities to attend night school, learn about various social and financial initiatives offered by the government, or just mingle with other members of the community. We have established a secure space for these ladies to meet with one another every evening and gain access to education and information that can have a huge impact on their future with this program.
