Govt of India and Meta partner to boost education, skill and entrepreneurship

The Govt of India has signed into a three-year agreement with Meta to promote Education, Skill development, and entrepreneurship ahead of Teachers’ Day. On Monday, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Meta announced a three-year collaboration.

“Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a Generation of Students, Educators, and Entrepreneurs” is the project’s title. Three letters of intent (LoI) were exchanged for this purpose between Meta and the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

While Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan launched the partnership, Ministers of State for Education Annpurna Devi and Rajeev Chandrasekhar also attended.

Dharmendra Pradhan, speaking at the ceremony, stated that the ‘Education to Entrepreneurship’ alliance is a game changer that will bring Digital Skilling to the grassroots. This will increase the capacity of our talent pool, connect students, youth, workers, and micro-entrepreneurs to futuristic technologies, and transform our kids into new-age problem solvers and entrepreneurs.

He went on to say that India’s democracy, demography, and diversity must be linked to technology conversion so that technology can serve as an equalizer for the entire population. META’s collaborations with NIESBUD, CBSE, and AICTE, guided by the pillars of National Education Policy, are projected to catalyze endless opportunities for training our population with crucial digital skills and enabling micro entrepreneurs and small companies, he added.

In his speech, Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the government’s focus on equipping our youth and workforce with the skills they need to prosper and play key roles in the shifting landscape of technology and the global economy. While digital skills reflect skilling and entrepreneurship in the innovation ecosystem, they also serve as a link between lakhs of small rural, micro, and self-employed entrepreneurs, allowing them to expand, grow, and flourish, he says.

Startups and businesses should prioritize skill development.

Nick Clegg, Meta President, Global Affairs, praised Dharmendra Pradhan in a video greeting for his assistance in bringing together the two most vital sectors of the workforce, education and skilling. He went on to say that India’s skill pool and growing digital penetration made it the ideal location for us to invest in innovative technologies. He was looking forward to Meta’s contribution to empowering India’s students, young people, and entrepreneurs, with a particular emphasis on skill development for Indian startups and businesses, having worked closely with India during its G20 Presidency on issues such as education, job creation, skill development, and user safety.

Meta’s cooperation with NIESBUD will provide 5 lakh entrepreneurs with access to digital marketing capabilities over the next three years. To begin, aspiring and established entrepreneurs will be schooled in digital marketing abilities using Meta platforms in seven regional languages. Three short films showing the details of the collaborations were also shown.
