Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) established a Mobile Public Health Unit (MPHU) with the goal of providing quality healthcare services to those living in and near Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant at Bamnipal.
Ambika Prasad Nanda, Head CSR (Odisha), Tata Steel, and Lovlin Swain, Head, Ferro Alloys Plant, Bamnipal, Tata Steel, launched the MPHU.
Dr Jayant Kumar Tripathy, Unit Lead, TSF, Bamnipal, Basanti Murmu, Sarpanch, Rasol Panchayat, Pratima Jena, Sarpanch, Radhikadeipur Panchayat, Ghanashyam Bari, Sarpanch, Tangriapal Panchayat, Bijay Kumar Jena, Sarpanch, Deulakan Panchayat, Akshya Nayak, Manager Public Health, TSF, Hrushikesh Sahoo and Subash Chandra Barik, Social workers, representatives of Gulzarilal Biswas of Wockhardt Foundation, and others were present on the occasion.

The Mobile Public Health Unit (MPHU) will provide basic quality health care services to more than 20,000 people living in 12 villages of five nearby gram panchayats, including Rasol, Tangriapal, Radhikapur, Kiajhar, and Deulakan Grampanchayats of Harichandanpur, Ghasipura, and Dangadi Blocks. It will travel to different communities twice a day, according to the schedule. In addition to a doctor, a team of six paramedics and support professionals will be on hand to provide free advice, investigation, counseling, and medications.
Tata Steel Foundation’s initiative aims to provide preventive, promotional, and primary healthcare services to the local community, with a focus on behavior change communication, improving health seeking behavior, screening for noncommunicable diseases, and raising awareness about seasonal diseases and their prevention.
