Employee-Volunteers Make a Positive Impact on Children’s Lives through Yogdaan Sports Initiative

Yogdaan Sports Initiative – Employee volunteering has emerged as a crucial tactic in helping organisations to positively impact communities through active team involvement. Employees are also more committed to purpose-driven organisations that help them embrace a more social part of life. According to a Deloitte survey, 46% of millennials and Generation Z want to actively contribute to society/community. Sportz Village Foundation’s Yogdaan is one such initiative that assists corporations in engaging their employees to contribute their time and knowledge to #SportForChange programmes that aim on improving educational, health, and developmental outcomes in school children.

“We have been partnering with various organisations for our Sports Education & Sports Excellence programmes as part of their CSR initiatives for the past two quarters, but a recent highlight from the past two quarters was heightened interest in integrating employee-volunteers in their CSR programmes for deeper and meaningful employee engagement.” “With Yogdaan, we hope to engage more corporate employees in our #SportForChange programmes, which are currently being run in 200+ schools and impacting 50000+ children in India,” stated Parminder Gill, Co-Founder & Head, Sportz Village Foundation.

Yogdaan’s employee volunteering programme involves corporate employees directly engaging with schoolchildren through pleasant, play/sport-based activities delivered in a structured environment. It can be integrated into a company’s CSR programme or done as a separate employee-driven social impact programme. “We prioritised flexibility in the duration and size of the programme – from 1 day event to on-going programmes,” Gill explained.

Yogdaan, as part of Sportz Village Foundation’s primary #SportForChange programme, provides clear visibility of influence on children’s educational and developmental results. Inderpreet Kaur, who manages Corporate Citizenship at KGS, commented on a recently concluded inter-school sporting event as part of the KPMG Global Services CSR programme, saying, “All the students were playing like professionals, but what made us proud was the performance of the students who are part of the sports excellence programme; they not only won matches but also displayed great coordination, commitment, confidence, and leadership skills.” It clearly demonstrates the impact of the organised sports education programme Sportz Village Foundation has been implementing in KGS funded schools. My crew and the KGS volunteers were overjoyed to be a part of the event.”
