Spark Minda Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of leading automotive component manufacturer Spark Minda Group, is organising a 10-day massive camp in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The camp, which will open on February 1, 2023, aims to empower people with disabilities (PwDs). It is being hosted in collaboration with stakeholders such as IBDN (CII), ASSOCHAM, SCPwD, Vishwa Yuva Kendra, Youth 4 Jobs, NAB, and Uttar Pradesh District Administration.

The camp, held under the auspices of the Foundation’s National Award-winning flagship programme, Saksham, successfully provided access to prosthetic limbs, orthotics, and other assistive and available aid to over 16,000 people with disabilities.

During the camp, nearly 2000 fittings, including artificial limbs, callipers, crutches, walkers, walking sticks, and hearing aids, as well as customised tricycles to promote entrepreneurship and mobility, are distributed. In addition, the team assists PwDs with UDID registration and employment support.

Spark Minda Foundation also collaborates with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) to provide assistive devices/aids to eligible people with disabilities. In addition, the Spark Minda Foundation team collaborated with IIT Bombay and Minda Silca to create a customised tricycle for income generation.

“Spark Minda Foundation aims to build an all-inclusive and harmonious society,” said Sarika Minda, Chairperson of the Spark Minda Foundation. Saksham is an excellent example of a collaborative initiative with noble intentions. Spark Minda Foundation has reached yet another milestone with this mega-camp. I am grateful to all of our partners and the entire Spark Minda Foundation team, the force multipliers who made this possible. We will continue to make similar efforts in order to impact more lives.”

The enrollment of camp participants was calculated following an extensive and comprehensive screening, with 82 screening camps kept all over Meerut, Killa Pratikshagadh, Mangolpuri, Sawda, Nandgram, Muradnagar, Haridwar, Delhi NCR, Bulandshahar, Mewat, Agra, Mathura-Vrindavan, Bisrakh, Jewar, Dadri, Surajpur, Rudrapur, Bulandshahar, Ghaziabad, Dadri, Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida.

The Spark Minda Group launched Saksham in 2015. Its goal is to empower people with disabilities by providing them with access to assistive and accessible aid, job placement assistance, UDID registration, and skill development opportunities.

Over 16,000 people with disabilities have benefited from the programme in India, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Spark Minda also operates two PwD Empowerment Centers in the states with the highest number of PwDs, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Spark Minda has also employed approximately 1000 PWDs and plans to hire an additional 100 through this camp.

Anyone in need of assistance can go to the Noida centre, which is open all year and provides free services.
