NASA and ISRO’s joint satellite NISAR gets traditional send-off

NASA and ISRO’s joint satellite NISAR sent off

Satellite NISAR – The American space agency NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization are working together on the mission known as “NISAR” (ISRO). A send-off ceremony was organised in California before to Nisar’s arrival in India because it is now prepared.

It’s almost time for the scientific core of NISAR, an Earth science satellite being jointly built by NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization, to ship out to its final stop before being launched into orbit, according to a statement from NASA.

“This marks a critical milestone in our shared endeavour to better understand planet Earth and our changing environment,” JPL Director Laurie Leshin of NASA stated. NISAR will offer important data on the ice sheets, ecosystems, and crust of the Earth.

“NISAR promises a new knowledge and a positive impact on communities by offering measurements with unparalleled precision. Our partnership with ISRO serves as an example of what is achievable when we work together to address difficult problems, she noted.

Phil Barela, the NISAR project manager for NASA, and CV Shrikant, the NISAR project director for ISRO, ceremonially broke fresh coconuts in front of a scale model of the NISAR satellite. The custom, which is widespread in India, frequently commemorates fortunate occasions and expresses hope for a good future.

“Today we get one step closer to reaching the great scientific potential NASA and ISRO envisioned for NISAR when we joined forces more than eight years ago,” Somanath, Indian Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission Sripriya Ranganathan, stated.

He continued by saying that this mission will be a potent illustration of radar’s use as a scientific tool and enable in-depth examination of Earth’s dynamic land and ice surfaces.
