Delhi Metro Partners With Airtel Payments Bank To Provide One More Metro Smart Card Top-Up Facility To Its Commuters

Delhi Metro and Airtel Payments Bank To offer Metro Smart Card Top-Up Facility

The only profitable multi-segment Fintech operating at scale with a banking licence in India, Airtel Payments Bank, will now offer the top up (recharge) capability of Delhi Metro’s Smart Cards. By bringing digital transaction services to every Indian, the Delhi Metro and Airtel Payments Bank hope to support the government’s aim of a financially inclusive and digitally connected India.

The ability to use a second, more dependable method of recharging their smart cards through their mobile phones will make use of this new feature, which will be of tremendous benefit to commuters. The transactions will be 100 percent secure, and the app will only save your card or net banking information once.

Users of Delhi Metro Smart Cards can recharge their cards in just three easy steps:

On the Airtel Thanks App, select the Metro Recharge icon under the Bank heading.

  1. Type the DMRC Smart Card number, the recharge amount, and the payment information.
  2. To sync the card before use, tap it on the Add Value Machine at the metro station.

DMRC has recently started a number of other initiatives to make it simple for smart cards to be easily topped off and tokens to be sold, reducing wait times at stations. This includes the ability to top up a smart card through TVMs, the introduction of Metro Combo cards with other banks, the ability to use a credit or debit card at stations, the use of net banking through dmrcsmartcard.com, mobile e-wallets, etc.
