UST Celebrates Republic Day By Planting Saplings

In honour of Republic Day, UST, a top provider of digital transformation solutions, planted over 4500 tree saplings at the Government Engineering College in Cherthala, Kerala, on Thursday. The occasion signalled the start of UST’s CSR programmes for 2023.

On the occasion of the 74th Republic Day of the country, more than 200 volunteers from UST and 100 volunteers from the college gathered at the Government Engineering College in Cherthala to plant saplings of more than 90 different tree species on the college grounds. According to the Dense Forest Method of afforestation, seedlings were planted.

After Dr. Dileepkumar P.P, Medical Director and Professor, AIARD, served as the initiative’s Chief Guest, the UST volunteers began the seedling planting programme at 8:30 in the morning. Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head of Center Operations at UST, and Dr. Jaya VL, Principal of Cherthala’s College of Engineering, presented congratulations. On the one-acre plot of ground in front of the college, which is located along the Cherthala-Arookutty road, the dignitaries planted the first seedlings.

By dusk, the teams had successfully planted and watered all 4500 seedlings. Prasanth Subramanian, the UST Kochi CSR Lead, spearheaded the campaign with the help of Nipun Varma, the APAC – COLOR Catalyst, and the UST COLOR leads.

“We launched our CSR endeavours for the current year with the seedling planting campaign on the occasion of India’s 74th Republic Day. This is a fortunate beginning for our community service projects.
