Mercedes-Benz hosts its Sustainability Dialogue in India

Today in India, Mercedes-Benz held the inaugural meeting of its Sustainability Dialogue. The dialogue’s 2023 edition had as its theme “Sustainable Mobility – Accelerating Towards a Green, Inclusive and Safe Future” in order to highlight the necessity of decarbonizing energy, industry, and transportation while also hastening the transition to a more sustainable future.

Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, and Renata Jungo Brüngger, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, participated in a series of pertinent conversations on global trends and recent developments at the event with key stakeholders and changemakers from the public and private sectors as well as academia.

Mercedes-Benz defines sustainability as providing value for all stakeholder groups, including consumers, employees, investors, business partners, and society at large. The Sustainability Dialogue’s India edition concentrated on promoting sustainability in India’s mobility ecosystem and encouraging partnerships and collaborations to further India’s sustainable development objectives.

Over 250 people participated in the first India version of the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Dialogue, including government officials, policymakers, academics, business leaders, up-and-coming companies, and ecosystem enablers, after 15 successful iterations in Germany. The Dialogue focused on responsible use of our planet’s resources and aimed to hasten society’s transition to CO2-neutrality.

Mercedes-Benz announced its support for “beVisioneers: The Mercedes-Benz Fellowship,” a global initiative that offers thousands of young innovators training, mentoring, expert support, scholarships, and funding to launch their projects in the areas of environmental sustainability and decarbonization. The announcement was made as part of the Sustainability Dialogue India 2023.

The beVisioneers programme is a project developed and carried out by professionals of a German non-profit organisation, The DO School Fellowships, with the goal of empowering young participants to pursue project ideas that will have a demonstrable positive impact on the environment and local communities. The programme will be supported yearly by funds from Mercedes-Benz.

“Sustainability is one of the core values for Mercedes-Benz, and we strongly believe in creating value for all stakeholder groups: for customers, employees, and investors as well as for business partners and society as a whole,” said Manu Saale, CEO and MD of Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India. Mercedes-Benz reaffirms its commitment to India and its partners in the effort to realise India’s sustainable development goals by hosting the inaugural Sustainability Dialogue in India.

“We are delighted to help beVisioneers, an organisation that fosters young talent at the nexus of innovation, leadership, and sustainability. India is among the first few nations to be included in this initiative, thus it is a great time for us,” Manu Saale continued.
