Muskaan Litfest for Child Authors Creates a Unique Space for Young Minds
Muskaan Litfest for Child – Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, attended the event on day one and spoke with 30 school-age young authors who had the chance to share their writings in 15 sessions, several workshops, conversations, and performances on a national stage. Following were uplifting poetry recitations by Gurugram native Saina Sarin and Udaipur native Aviraj Singhvi.

The minister praised PKF’s “great initiative” Muskaan for providing a stage for young, gifted writers to exhibit their work and spur on upcoming creatives. The young authors also received certificates from him.
In a letter, Ruskin Bond, the most well-known, adored, and respected novelist among children, praised Prabha Khaitan Foundation for its admirable efforts to encourage children’s reading habits through the Muskaan programme.
The three-day Litfest (Jan. 10–12) was put on in partnership with the India International Centre, IGNCA, Sahitya Akademi, and other organisations. As a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, Shree Cement provided support for the occasion.
Priyank Kanoongo, Chairman of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, attended the festival’s opening (NCPCR). The executive and academic head of IGNCA, Sachchidanand Joshi, the director of IIC, K N Shrivastava, and the secretary of the Sahitya Akademi, K Sreenivasarao, were also present.
“Literature serves as a social commentary. In order to encourage literature, it’s critical to give young authors the proper setting and upbringing, according to Kanoongo. He argued that kids should show greater interest in writing and literature rather than social media.

The evening was highlighted by the dazzling cultural presentation “Udaan,” which Shinjini Kulkarni, an Ehsaas Woman of the Prabha Khaitan Foundation, conceptualized. The show was further energised by contributions from Ehsaas Women from Delhi, Huma Khalil Mirza, and Indore, Unnati Singh. A network called Ehsaas Woman, run by the Prabha Khaitan Foundation, is made up of groups of successful women who aim to build cultural capital and assets.
Avirup Sengupta, a dancer and choreographer who works with children with disabilities via the Prayas Foundation, put on a spellbinding performance. Children from Kolkata were flown in by the Foundation for the unique performance.

The Late Dr. Prabha Khaitan, a renowned Indian author, businesswoman, philanthropist, social activist, and feminist, established the non-profit Prabha Khaitan Foundation in Kolkata in 1980. The passionate fusion of India’s many cultural diversities forms the foundation’s core. For the past forty years, the Prabha Khaitan Foundation has been motivated by the idea of “Unity in Diversity” to develop specialised initiatives and events that highlight the unique literary and cultural treasures of India. We consider it to be crucial.
