GODREJ and BOYCE promotes skilling initiatives for GREEN JOBS

The world economy will be driven by green jobs as a result of corporations and young people placing a greater emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility. In addition, it is crucial to acquire skills that can match the demands of these new job categories as India works jointly towards the ambitious goal of Net Zero by 2070 in order to achieve our short-term objectives. The Godrej Group’s flagship company, GODREJ and BOYCE, has been concentrating on preparing young people for the workforce of the future. The organization is dedicated to upskilling its present staff, fostering employee innovation for environmentally friendly products, and investing in the talents of the next generation.

The company’s CSR approach includes increasing employability in terms of future skills. The goal of their flagship CSR skill development programme DISHA’s Digital Skills project is to provide future skills to kids from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The digital skills programme places a priority on creating skills in automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things since it recognizes the developments in Industry 4.0 as the fundamental driver for the creation of green jobs.

“Looking at the growing demand and requirement for digital skills in the recent times, across various industries, we have realized that a lack of exposure to evolving technology and its applications serve as barriers to youth securing employment in their desired fields,” says Ashwini Deodeshmukh, Head CSR & Sustainability at Godrej & Boyce, in response to a question about the importance of digital skills. With the help of Project DISHA’s Digital Skills Initiative, we hope to close this gap and give young graduates from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India the skills they need to adapt to new technology. In the next ten years, we want to teach 1 lakh young individuals in advanced skills.

In-person instruction is another component of the Digital Skills initiative that will give students practical experience.
