YATS will significantly advance the field of astronomy and space science research.

Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister of Science & Technology, Public Enterprises, Social Security, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha, praised Tata Steel and the planetarium for the initiative and said in a video message, “In the coming days, we look up to this platform as a launchpad for emerging space scientists. “I applaud Tata steel for organizing such a forum for the young generation,” said Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Science & Technology Department, Government of Odisha. My sincere congratulations go out to all of the contestants as well as the 20 winners. Undoubtedly, a platform like this one might improve educational standards.

The essay competition asked students to produce an essay on the topic “Time to unravel the universe,” but the open quiz’s winners were announced immediately. An impartial jury reviewed the essays and gave its verdict. The top two competitors from each district received an invitation to the final round. The top 20 winners were celebrated following additional examination based on interpersonal encounters.

In the past 16 years, more than 2 lakh young science enthusiasts from the state have participated in YATS, and 160 winning students have got the chance to tour ISRO sites all around India.
