DP World gives patrolling vehicles to Tiger Conservation Foundation

The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation recently received two patrolling vehicles from DP World, a top provider of global smart end-to-end supply chain logistics, to help improve patrolling within the forest area. This is in keeping with DP World’s commitment to protecting wildlife and preserving nature. At a ceremony held at the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve’s Forest Office, Mr. Jibu K. Itty, CEO of DP World Nhava Sheva, and Mr. Kevin D’Souza, Director of Commercial & Business Development, presented the patrolling vehicles.

At least 80 tigers live in the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, and there are more than 200 tigers in the surrounding area. The frontline forest patrolling staff is on duty all day for efficient monitoring and travels on foot in small groups. It is known for having the fastest growing tiger population in the nation. Forest service workers use two-wheelers to reach isolated areas of the reserve, which is stretched across 625.4 square kilometres.

The frontline staff will be less at danger while performing their responsibilities and can efficiently boost patrolling with the addition of patrol vehicles. Additionally, this will enhance the tiger reserve’s patrolling capabilities, play a significant part in the prevention and early detection of forest fires, and help minimize.

According to Mr. Jitendra Ramgaokar, IFS Field Director for the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Executive Director of the TATR Conservation Foundation, “We would like to thank DP World for their support of new patrolling vehicles that will enable our frontline staff to monitor remote areas of the reserve more safely and aid in preserving the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve’s natural heritage. This will also aid in deterring criminal activity in and near the woodland region.

Kevin D’Souza, Director of Commercial and Business Development for DP World Subcontinent, commented on the occasion, saying, “At DP World, we are dedicated to the protection of wildlife and biodiversity. We believe the frontline personnel, who labour around the clock to conserve the species, is responsible for Tadoba’s conservation achievement. Our top priority is the safety of the Tadoba employees who risk their lives every day to preserve wildlife and their natural habitats. The employees will be able to work confidently and safely in isolated places with the support of the patrolling vehicles provided to the reserve.

DP World is a member of the United for Wildlife-led industry taskforce, which seeks to work with key stakeholders to address the tragedy of the illegal wildlife trafficking. The corporation has vowed to stop the illegal wildlife trade and has signed 11 pledges covering activities that limit the transportation of illegal wildlife goods.
