Microland launched Reading Light – Padi Padi Padi

Microland introduces “Reading Light – Padi Padi Padi” to help pupils in government schools become more fluent in English.

A programme to improve English proficiency in Government schools has been introduced by Microland Foundation, a division of Microland Limited devoted to social development, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Tamil Nadu, and Learning Matters. TARA is an artificial intelligence-powered teacher who teaches communicative English. TARA, which supports more than 2200 students in the Nilgiris and Bengaluru, is an intelligent amalgamation of the greatest teaching abilities of human and machine tutors.

The “Reading Light – Padi Padi Padi” project was introduced on December 2 at Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Thuneri in the Ooty block, Panchayat Union Primary School (PUPS), and Government High School (GHS), Milidane in the Kotagiri block of the Nilgiris district to support the English proficiency program. Microland Ltd.’s Chief People Officer, Mr. Srinivasan TR, said, “The “Culture of Giving” is ingrained in the organizational culture of Microland, a multinational firm that specializes in digital transformation. A reading programme called “Reading Light – Padi Padi Padi” was created to encourage children in government schools to develop the habit of reading, which would improve their English language skills. We are happy that children at Government schools can benefit from this programme because employees and the Microland Foundation generously supported it with their donations. We also appreciate the Tamil Nadu Department of Education’s support for this effort.”

In order to improve English fluency, Mr. Raja Gopalan S, Non-Executive Director, Microland Ltd., elaborated on the “Reading Light – Padi Padi Padi” methodology. “The learning levels of the books are divided up such that they correspond with the TARA curriculum and classroom activities. A multilingual library manual, a selection of worldwide and traditional Indian tales, badges, and stickers are all intended to encourage students to read more and foster a sense of competition. The three tiers of the badges that will be given out to pupils will serve as a symbol of acknowledgment for each student’s reading proficiency.”

With a number of initiatives, Microland Foundation has established its presence in the Nilgiris District and invites collaboration from academia, corporate donors, government agencies, and individuals to create a fruitful long-term partnership. By offering assistance and support to students in need, the Foundation has also been in the forefront of efforts to improve the quality of education in the Nilgiris and the surrounding regions.
