HCCB and Forests by Heartfulness tree plantation

To enhance its 25-lakh tree plantation initiative, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India’s top FMCG firms, has teamed up with Forests by Heartfulness and additional partners. The HCCB programme will span several Indian states and contribute to the creation of a carbon sink for about 1500 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the course of the following three to five years. At the Heartfulness World Headquarters in Kanha Village, Hyderabad, HCCB and Heartfulness declared their partnership.

In the initial round of the initiative in Telangana earlier this year, 7,500 saplings were planted at “Bruhat Pattana Prakruti Vanam” in the Ameenpur municipality, covering a 5 acre area, and another 7,500 seedlings were planted as avenues. Since then, the drive has involved hundreds of volunteers, HCCB staff, women self-help groups, community elders, villagers, pollution control boards, and forestry department officials.

By the conclusion of this fiscal year, Telangana will have at least 1 lakh trees planted.

To maintain the ecological balance of the states where we operate, green belts must be established. This effort serves as a carbon sink, a communal benefit, and an ecological benefit in addition to being a tree planting exercise. In addition to increasing our sustainability efforts, the programme goes beyond the idea of merely retaining our social licence.

By using the patented Heartyculture High Density (HCHD) plantation technique, the Forests by Heartfulness programme promoted a number of critically endangered indigenous plant species. This technique uses Activated Biochar, Vermicompost, Cow manure, and Cocopeat to extensively reconstitute the soil. To create a miniature forest, HCCB will assist in the planting of more than 100 different species of trees. The trees chosen for the plantation drive will be obtained from Heartfulness Institute and are indigenous, endemic, and supported by a vast root system.
