How Goodyear Supports Farmers in India

Goodyear is Supporting Farmers in India

Together with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Goodyear India is helping farmers in Barnala, Punjab, reduce agricultural residue burning, a major source of air pollution. This programme, which is a part of Goodyear India’s yearly CSR campaign, aims to improve farmers’ skill sets and increase access to tools so they may adopt more environmentally sound farming methods.

With the help of CII, Goodyear India will engage villages via volunteers to carry out behavioural change campaigns after donating farm equipment as part of this effort. Through activities including wall painting, the formation of farmer user groups, and the provision of technical advice to farmers to lessen stubble burning, these efforts will seek to increase awareness.

With the assistance of the Barnala District Administration, the initiative’s launch ceremony was held in the village of Bhaini Mehraj in Barnala. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Raheja, Cane Commissioner, Punjab; Dr. Varinder Kumar, Chief Agriculture Officer, Barnala; Mr. Anuj Thakkar, VP Farm & Commercial, Goodyear India; Ms. Seema Arora, CEO of CII Foundation; scientists from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU); farmers in Barnala; and other distinguished dignitaries attended the initiative’s launch.

Through a variety of interventions, including training, providing farmers with equipment and technical support, and facilitating the adoption of workable environmentally friendly alternatives to stubble burning, CII and Goodyear are assisting farmers in 15 villages in Barnala, covering 40,000 acres of farmland.
