Uber electric taxis introduced

In several areas of the Delhi-NCR region, Uber has begun offering electric vehicles (Uber electric taxis) to its passengers. In the upcoming months, the corporation intends to increase its efforts, according to a statement. These electric taxis are now only offered for pre-arranged excursions, according to TechCrunch.

According to a spokeswoman for Uber, the firm is committed to helping India meet its emission targets. Expect to see more electric vehicles in Indian cities in the upcoming months, whether they have two, three, or four wheels.

However, the company insisted that it is collaborating with numerous fleet partners, OEMs, and charging infrastructure providers “to gradually build the EV business in a sustainable manner.” The company declined to disclose the number of EV cabs that were currently operating on its platform in India.

The ride-hailing company has not yet revealed the specifics of its electric taxis on its Indian blog, but it has maintained that it is working with numerous OEMs, fleet suppliers, and charging infrastructure providers to progressively expand the EV business throughout India.

Customers can select these Uber electric taxis via the Uber app’s “Reserve” feature, where they must select a pickup time for the trip that should ideally be up to 30 days in advance. According to Uber, passengers have the option of a free cancellation up to 60 minutes prior to the planned trip.

At the moment, India is pressuring businesses to reduce their fleet emissions. As it continues to be committed to adhering to the 2015 Paris Climate Change Agreement, New Delhi has even promised to cut emissions and decrease reliance on oil imports.
