SBI to launch Gram Seva program across six Indian States

SBI’s Gram Seva program

The fourth phase of the “SBI Gram Seva Program” initiative, which adopts 30 isolated villages throughout Aspirational Districts in Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, was officially launched on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti by Dinesh Khara, Chairman of the State Bank Group.

In an effort to create and promote an Atmanirbhar Rural India, SBI Gram Seva was established in 2017 to commemorate Gandhiji’s vision of Gram Swaraj. It is one of the centrepiece initiatives of the State Bank Group’s CSR division, the SBI Foundation.

The initiative has a strong emphasis on the holistic development of communities by direct involvement in sectors like as infrastructure, healthcare, livelihoods, and education. In three phases, the initiative has so far adopted 100 villages in 16 States.

More than one lakh lives have been affected by the socioeconomic transformation that SBI Foundation has been able to bring about in these communities thanks to the assistance of partner NGOs.

Dinesh Khara, the chairman of SBI, announced the program’s launch, saying, “I am extremely pleased to announce the launch of the fourth phase of the programme in a fresh batch of 30 identified villages, out of which five villages—Rangala, Uton, Kalarpuri, Fatehpuri, and Para of Taoru Block, District Nuh of Haryana State, which is within the administrative jurisdiction of New Delhi Circle of SBI—will be adopted by SBI Foundation. The Gram Seva programme was jointly introduced in Haryana by SBI, DGM (B&O) Shri Amrendra Kumar Suman, and Akhil Bhartiya Gramin Utthan Samiti.

According to Suman, India is a nation of villages, and its villages are where the country’s essence resides. They have decided to work with the locals to jointly develop these villages into Model Villages. On this occasion, a sizable number of people from several villages as well as representatives of the institution’s panchayat were present.
