AIIMS gets a new director as Randeep Guleria tenure ends

Dr. M. Srinivas has been named the new Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, by the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee. He will take over for Dr. Randeep Guleria, whose term ends on September 23. The Dean of the ESIC at the Sanathnagar Medical College and Hospital in Hyderabad is Dr. Srinivas. 
 
Dr. Guleria will remain in his position for a further six months beginning on September 23 or until the new Director starts working there, whichever comes first, according to a notification from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions. 
 
With effect from the date of acceptance of the position, Dr. Srinivas will be compensated at the grade of pay of Rs. 2,25,000 fixed plus NPA of 20% (pay + NPA not exceeding Rs. 2,37,500), for a term of 5 years, or until he turns 65, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Randeep Guleria

Dr. Sanjay Behari, Dr. Pramod Garg, and Dr. Rajesh Malhotra were among the candidates in addition to Dr. Srinivas. Dr. Malhotra is the head of the AIIMS Trauma centre, and Dr. Behari is the director of the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in Trivandrum. Dr. Garg is a professor in the gastroenterology department. 
 
In his capacity as Director of AIIMS Delhi, Dr. Guleria had two extensions. On March 28, 2017, he started. During the pandemic, Dr. Randeep Guleria rose to fame. His knowledge and his remarks assist in addressing peoples’ worries. 
 
Additionally, the AIIMS in New Delhi is being planned for redevelopment by the federal government, and the Union Health Ministry is expected to adopt the master plan soon.
