Indian startup GalaxEye to develop satellite with SAR, and optical sensors

In order to create the first satellite having both Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical sensors, the California-based Antaris and the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M)-based Indian startup GalaxEye have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Today’s satellite constellations collect data from various places and at various times. This frequently leads to users wasting a lot of time trying to make sense of data sent by numerous satellites. To increase the correlation and analytical utility of the data produced, the new multi-sensor satellite will gather both SAR and optical data from the same satellite. 
 
The satellite is anticipated to be launched in late 2023, and the corporation claimed in a statement sent to Business Today that the datasets it will offer will notably be of enormous value to environmental, insurance, and defence applications. 
 
Suyash Singh, CEO of GalaxEye, called the collaboration a “milestone” for India’s commercial space industry. He added, “We strongly believe that our combined expertise will result in a successful mission of GalaxEye’s satellite, which will provide superior geospatial imagery to our customers. This is a pioneering partnership in the Indian space industry that will be strengthened even more with assistance from ISRO and IN-SPACe.

As part of the agreement, the project will also engage the globally accredited aerospace master systems integrator Ananth Technologies and the satellite service provider XDLINX Labs. 
 
The Antaris software platform was created with the express purpose of serving as an all-inclusive solution to help significantly simplify satellite design, construction, and management. The chance to work with our friends at Ananth Technologies, GalaxEye, and XDLINX to develop a ground-breaking solution for a multi-payload satellite imaging constellation is a prime illustration of the versatility of our platform, according to Tom Barton, co-founder and CEO of Antaris. 
 
Antaris will supply the software as a service (SaaS) technology platform needed to plan, inspire, create, and oversee the earth observation satellite from Indian startup GalaxEye and its onboard Drishti sensor, in accordance with the terms of the deal. Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) services and manufacturing skills will be offered by Ananth Technologies. The supply chain integration services and design of the satellite bus or main body will be handled by XDLINX Labs.
