Zinc Kaushal Kendra Helping India’s Youth to Prepare for Tomorrow

By educating young people, Hindustan Zinc’s Zinc Kaushal Kendra both, directly and indirectly, contributes to economic growth. 
 
3,426 young people have received training to date, and 2,760 (80.56%) have found jobs or started their own businesses. 
 
A diligent woman from Rajasthan’s Rajsamand area named Deepamala had a life full of ups and downs. Until she learned about Zinc Kaushal Kendra, Dariba, she was faced with an uncertain future for both herself and her child. After learning about them at the centre, she began looking into the various courses and eventually signed up for the GST-Tally Course. She participated in an interview with ICICI Lombard following graduation and was hired as a Relationship Manager with a salary of Rs. 4,20,000 annually. She attributes her accomplishment to her training at Zinc Kaushal Kendra in Dariba.

Even Mohit Kumar Garg experienced significant difficulties after graduating from college. He is from Nagari village in Chittorgarh, and he applied for jobs to become financially independent but was getting turned down since he lacked expertise in his field. He then enrolled in the BFSI-Business Development Executive programme at Zinc Kaushal Kendra in Chittorgarh. He was hired as an Executive at a reputable banking firm in Bhilwara after completing his BFSI Training and began making a good salary. His coworkers and bosses frequently compliment him for his commitment to his job. There are numerous other success stories like Deepmala and Mohit, who are developing their independence and job readiness thanks to Hindustan Zinc’s Zinc Kaushal Kendra programme.

Hindustan Zinc has always placed a high premium on the social and economic uplift of the local population near its operating plants. Numerous need-based programmes are being carried out in the areas of education, health, livestock intervention, and other areas. Hindustan Zinc is making numerous efforts as part of its CSR programme to develop the society, particularly the future of the local rural kids by providing them with training through its Zinc Kaushal Kendra. The company’s serious efforts to give young people jobs are succeeding thanks to the training of more than 3400 kids and the hiring of more than 2700 trainees. 
 
The lack of skills among young people is the main cause of unemployment in the state’s rural areas. To combat this, Hindustan Zinc has conducted skill-development initiatives in and around its operations locations in partnership with numerous not-for-profit organizations.

Impacting change

The Zinc Kaushal Kendra was initially founded with the intention of providing short-term intensive training programmes in a variety of trades and profiles, including general duty assistant, microfinance executive, electrician, security guard, retail sales executive, data entry operator, customer relationship management, food and beverage services, front office associate, BFSI-Business Development Executive, and auto sales consultant, among others. 
 
But the company’s efforts go beyond just helping people find gainful employment; Hindustan Zinc also works to support healthy business ecosystems in the areas where it operates since it thinks that such an environment is essential to the development of the community.

Working for India’s young

The Zinc Kaushal Kendra initiative is carried out with the assistance of committed field coordinators; two persons are designated to each of these centres and are in charge of promoting the programme generally in the neighbourhood and identifying those who qualify for skill development training. 
 
In order to further ensure the effectiveness of such mobilization, the programme looks for practical, scalable, and efficient ways to motivate students and direct them toward programmes for skill development.

Putting the work into practice

Training is undoubtedly another crucial component of the project, which is why Hindustan Zinc places a lot of emphasis on the training setup, including the resources utilized and infrastructure provided. Then, in addition to a safety gallery and a library, the Zinc Kaushal Kendras are furnished with labs, IT and soft skill courses, and other amenities. The Kendras also employ a group of knowledgeable and experienced trainers, welcome visiting professors, organize field trips to businesses, etc.
