Datta Meghe Medical College (DMMC) Nagpur was established in February 2020 and was permitted a sanctioned intake of 150 MBBS students by the Board of Governors in supersession of National Medical Commission of India and affiliated to Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed-to-be University) Nagpur.

It has a campus that is spread over 20 acres of land in Wanadongri, adjoining a premier and well-known technical institution, Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering.

Datta Meghe Medical College (DMMC) has a modern 350 bedded hospital having world-class facilities to extend health care to the needy at an affordable cost.

It offers aid in sub-specialty services in specialties like Urology, Cardiology, Endoscopy, Minimal Access Surgery, Dialysis, Joint Replacement, Arthroscopy, and Wound Care Clinic catering patients with low cost quality health care services. It has well-furnished Intensive care units and Modular operation theatres.

The college has established Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry in a uniquely designed building. The laboratories, museum and lecture theatres are fully equipped and can serve the needs of 200 students.

Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University)

On 24th May 2005, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences was granted the status of ‘Deemed to be University’ by the commission of University Grants (UGC) New Delhi.

Following which, DMIMS (DU) has opted for inspection by National Assessment & Accreditation Council. Accordingly, Peer Team from NAAC inspected the DMIMS (DU) campus as well as its constituent units and accredited it with ‘A’ Grade, in March 2007.

Thereafter, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University) was conferred ‘A’ Grade status by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India amongst the Deemed Universities in the country, in the month of May 2013.

It has been reaccredited with ‘Grade A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for a period of five years, in March 2013.

Subsequently, in the 3rd cycle of re-accreditation, the University has been re-accredited with an “A+” Grade, making it a unique Health Sciences University in the County, in the year 2017.

Afterwards, it was placed in ‘Category-I Deemed to be University’ as per University Grants Commission (Categorization of Universities only) for grant of graded autonomy, regulations 2018.

It has also been included in the list of Deemed to be Universities under 12 B of UGC act, 1956.

MBBS Admission at Datta Meghe Medical College Nagpur

In order to get MBBS Admission at Datta Meghe Medical College (DMMC) Nagpur, you need to follow the eligibility criteria recommended by the National Medical Commission of India for Medical and Healthcare Education in India.

Here are those eligibility criteria:

  • You must pass in 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology and English as one of languages of study.
  • You also should be qualified the NEET-UG Entrance Exam conducted by the NTA
  • You should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission

In addition to the above mentioned eligibility criteria, you must appear and have to qualify in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET-UG which will be conducted by the National Testing Agency generally after Class 12th Board exams, each year.

The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the Entrance Test, declaration of result and providing the All India Rank to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi for counselling of 15% All India Quota Seats, 100% seats in Deemed Universities and providing the result to the State counselling authorities and admitting institutions.

After qualifying NEET-UG entrance exam, you need to apply for the counselling process conducted by the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) of DGHS India from the MCC Portal.

And then you will be invited for choice filling and on the basis of your NEET Score or NEET Rank you will be selected for the medical college.
