School Rumble has love triangles inside love triangles that will literally make your head explode. School Rumble is one of those shows that doesn’t start with the usual confession of the cherry blossom tree premise.

Throw that all away because in School Rumble, the confession goes wrong and it goes even worse because our girl Tenma Tsukamoto confesses to Kenji, the biggest delinquent of all time.

Now normally, this is the moment where the anime starts playing those gradually fall in love with the innocent guys story arc but school rumble kicks out that cliche and spreads comedy all over the place. Even though the art style is old, you’ll love this show, I’m sure of it.

05. Natsuyuki Rendezvous

Perhaps we should stick to high school romances because the moment you try to befriend the girl at the flower shop, ghosts start to haunt you. Here we have Ryousuke Hazuki, whose heart is stolen by the beautiful lady at the flower shop named Rokka Shimao.

Now, if he plays all his cards very well, he can date her but there’s a problem. Their previous husband, aka the ghost who haunts Hazuki, doesn’t want that. That’s right, this time, the love triangle is between two living people and a ghost. How can a ghost affect a love triangle?

Well, you’ll have to watch the anime and find out because ghosts can make your life a living hell. This also combines the supernatural and romance tropes really well, so this would be pretty refreshing to watch.

04. White Album 2

Don’t confuse this with the original White Album because that is a completely different story. Here we’ve got some decent romance, a love triangle, and some cheating.

Nope, not your good old school days cheating. This one’s different. Instead of making sure to show how much of a jerk our main character is, the show tries to reveal the thought process of each character making the whole scene look like a love triangle instead of a train wreck with heavy casualties.

Once again, we have two girls and one boy, one girl with black hair and another with orange hair. One cheerful girl and a cold looking girl. This is like Oregairu but with more cheating. Just like many other romance anime, the thing that holds this show together is the characters. There’s also a lot of music in here, so go watch some cheating with some good music in the background.

This one is a very well-written female lead. Rather than focusing on a duo or a group of teenagers, this series is about a young girl who is low on self-esteem but later learns how to appreciate herself and decide her own future.

The story features Kyouko, a 16-year-old girl who works to the bone to help out her friend and childhood crush to help become a pop star. But later, she reveals that her friend merely thinks of her as a servant and to take revenge, decides to become a pop star herself.

I’ve seen a lot of female lead shows getting bogged down by the usual Shoujo cliches or some Yuri elements. Still, this show knows how to craft a female character in a non-two-dimensional way and give her an actual purpose rather than getting dragged around by fan service and plot.

Kokoro Connect is more like your best friend checking out your browser history. Something like this is exactly what happens in Kokoro Connect. As we follow five close friends who eventually end up having supernatural incidents occur to one another.

These supernatural incidents end up pushing their friendships to the limit as they all end up learning each other’s emotional secrets and hidden scars. For example, one of these includes the infamous swapping bodies trope, and another turns them into little kids but you came here for the love triangle.

Well, it’s between Iori, Himeko, and Taichi. Kuroko Connect is still considered one of the best slice of life drama anime to be made and that’s for a good reason. This is probably one of those old but forever gold types of love triangle anime.

Here it is boys the love triangle of the decade or possibly the century. Here we have the anti-social Hachiman Hikigaya. After turning in an essay that mocked modern social interactions, his sensei punished him for being forced to be a member of the volunteer service club alongside Yukino Yukinoshita.

They both end up dealing with the patrons walking into the club requesting their aides. Even though the longer title of this is “My Teen Romantic Comedy,” there is nothing comedic about it.
