The Workshop On The Principles Of Modern Safety In Mines is an initiative of Indian School Of Mines Alumni Association (ISMA), Kolkata Chapter. The workshop was intended to equip a person to face organisational challenges with faculties from a wide cross section of professionals – united by their passion for the subject. On the final day of the 3-day workshop, Saikat Basu talked about Skill Development – A Modern Approach.
Looking at the challenges faced by mining industries, it can be said that these challenges are interrelated and cannot be addressed in isolation. In practice, this creates the challenge of integrating skill development strategies. His main focus was to put light on the blend of traditional and the modern approach to capacity development, training and finally competence management. A perfect blend of these two approaches customized to organizational management maturity, people maturity and business need shall be designed to ensure effective skill building process. He focused on the modern learning.
