Lancaster Medical student Charlotte Ross who won a scholarship for disadvantaged students says it has helped her enormously.

Charlotte was awarded a scholarship by The Aspiring Medic’s Support, a registered community interest company dedicated to supporting both aspiring and current medical students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.

She said: “I applied to the TAMS scholar programme to network with other Widening Participation (WP) students from across the country and to help boost my confidence while in my first year of medical school.

“I’ve found the programme really beneficial so far as it’s been amazing to have regular Personal and Professional Development sessions where we’ve listened to talks from other WP doctors and medical students.”

Dr Jacob Oguntimehin Founder and Director of The Aspiring Medic’s Support C.I.C. said; “The TAMS Scholars Programme team are so proud of Charlotte, and we are very excited to continue to support her in her various endeavours.

“We have endeavoured to complement her ongoing undergraduate training through the provision of training sessions that are tailored to students from her background, whilst building her social capital through various networking opportunities. Charlotte has continued to effectively engage and excel within the programme.”
