Awareness-Cum -training program on Food Fortification, Eat Right initiatives held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR : A workshop on Food Fortification was today organised at Kishtwar to impart awareness and training to the Front liners of ICDS POSHAH, FBOs and the locals.
During the workshop more than 100 Anganwari workers and Supervisors of ICDS, Food Business Operators, local stakeholders and the public participated in the workshop. Taraq Ahmad Butt, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety DFCO Doda and I/C Kishtwar made deliberations on Food Fortification and Eat Right initiatives at length.
The Enforcement Officers Prithpal Singh and Sajad Hussain both delivered lectures on Food Fortification and instructed the trainees to implement the Govt policy in respective Anganwadi Centres to prevent large-scale malnutrition and slide down the Anaemia graph which is still prevalent in children.
Eat Right initiatives were also explored to counteract the under nutrition and Nutrition deficiency conditions particularly Anaemia so as to make the Anemaukt Bharat mission Successful.
During the training program, it was highlighted that Fortification is a practice of increasing the contents of one or more micronutrients (vitamins or minerals) in Food products to improve nutritional value as well as quality of the Food and provide public health benefits with minimal Risk to Health.
During the workshop Brochures, pamphlets, information print material was distributed amongst the participants.
Besides, five Fortified food products including Salt, Milk, oil , Rice and Flour were explained point by point and a live demonstration of the products was made on the spot.
About Eat Right initiatives, the Slogans like Awao Kam karen thora Teel cheeni aur Namak as well as the themes like Eat Right Eat Healthy and Eat Fortified were explained thoroughly.
