Requirements of MCIWEM Application

What is the MCIWEM grade?

MCIWEM, membership, is a non-chartered grade of membership for a professional working at an operational level. Besides that, the professional is pursuing a career path in the water and environmental sector.

This grade comes with formal recognition of your attainments. Besides that, it allows you to engage with people and experiences that will broaden your network and continue your development. The authority offers valuable specialist structure and support for your professional growth. It doesn’t want your growth to be neglected due to the pressures of your day-to-day work.

Eligibility criteria for this status:

This grade is for those who are recent entrants into the industry and earning knowledge. You can have more experience than a graduate but less than the requirement for a chartership.

You should have each of the following:

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management or An honours degree
  • Demonstrable post-graduate experience in water or/and environmental management for at least 2 years

Application requirements:

For the application of MCIWEM, you need to:

  • Fill up an online application form
  • Submit your latest resume
  • Provide copies of related certificates that your sponsors have signed
  • Have two sponsors who are CIWEM members or Chartered members of other professional bodies and can review your application. These sponsors also need to sign on your application. You have to submit a signed letter from each of your sponsors with your application confirming that they have done this.
  • Write a 500-word report detailing the skills and knowledge you earned in your water or/and environmental career. Or, complete a summary of your NEBOSH Diploma assignment.

Your report must be in the first person. Besides that, you need to identify work/projects for which you have had responsibility. After that, describe your roles and responsibilities in them.

The report must describe an understanding of the environmental drivers and issues surrounding your work. In addition, it must describe your role in the promotion of good environmental practice.
