SSB : THE GAME OF KNOWNS
Hey aspirants, preparing for defence forces? That means preparing for SSB? The one who knows the process is the one who crack its, rather enjoys it. SSB is the process of checking personality through different testing procedure; OIR & PPDT on day one and psychological testing which includes TAT, WAT , SRT & SDT.
When we learn about the testing of SSB one must know that the whole procedure is based on scientific process. The questions mostly arises is that how to go through this rigid testing ? answer is that one must not focus on cracking it but it is important to understand the process and work on it. Not only physical but here your psychology is being tested continuously from day 1 to the day 4 of the testing.
So let us discuss the process about first day in SSB :
DAY 1 : OIR & PPDT
It stands for officer intelligence rating test , as the name itself says that it is the intelligence level which is being checked and the ranking is done accordingly. The test holds a lot of importance as it is helping SSB to know the intelligence level of a candidate. Its only mantra is to practice as much as you can and increasing the speed of solving questions. Generally questions are easy to moderate and hence good practice will give good results. This test includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning. The next in the series is PPDT test which means Picture Perception and Description test. The name is having it clear that one should look at picture and write the perceived action of the picture. It could be anything , like a picture showing hazy people standing , a crowd or anything , here whatever comes to the mind is needed to copied down but do we really write what we see or whatever is being perceived is correct or should be written or not.
APPROACH TO PPDT:
PP&DT is no different than the following psych test which are going to get conduted the next day, the difference comes with the picture which are clear in the stage 2 but hazy in the stage 1. To have a clear approach towards this test is to a simple and easy story with some good theme and action being demanded by the theme provided provided by you. The format is ppdt is shown below. In the given sheet it required to write action on which describes the theme of your story and the further story is written in the alignment of the action written. The story should follow daily easy experiences we come across. Easy English is to be written one need not write oxford English here , but yes grammatically correct and easily understood language. To write the story follow these three steps:
STEP 1 : Decide the theme/action of the picture shown and choose the hero.
Make a hero, empower him/her according to the action needed as per the theme you have written/decided. (Example: if your action is to spread awareness about sanitation than you must empower the character with the abilities like he/she can be a scout and guide, NSS, NCC cadet or some NGO member moving out for rallies and taking small action like starting from their own house or school/college.
STEP 2 : Write basic stories easy to understand showing some action and qualities of a person or the character shown in the picture.
While writing the story keep the theme in mind and do the required action. Do not write that is beyond the reality and not matching with the abilities of the abilities of the hero.
STEP 3 : Give proper action and outcome of the action done.
After empowering and doing the required action give the final outcome in one or two sentences. The outcome would look if you have written a real experience or something that is in the abilities of the character. Give the justification to the story and you will feel the satisfaction o your own.
The last thing is discussion which is again an important test but it is fun if you take it that way else its quite tiring. The process is full of stress and continuous performing , the discussion s the recess period and hence enjoy it rather than doing rattafication of the stories. If the story you have written is real and genuine than revising it for 2 times is more than enough.
Do not panic and stress yourself in the process, enjoy the process and you will make it for sure.candidates it’s the one time experience and LIVE LIFE LESS ORDINARY should be followed from the beginning itself.
