Many of the service entry aspirant would like to become commissioned officer. They want to apply through ACC SCO and PCSL but CO or Officer in charge forwards a few of them get forwarded.

There are 8 parameters which are checked before forwarding the application. How was your conduct in the regiment or battalion.

• Appearance and bearing (smartness, turnout and military bearing)
• Discipline (personal conduct both on and off parade)
• The behaviour with the people.
• Physical fitness (can endure physical stress and strain)
• Dependability of soldier (can be relied upon to complete the assigned task without supervision)
• Command and Control (can effectively command his subordinates, delegates and supervises work effectively)
• Initiative and drive (takes necessary and appropriate action on his own without looking for direction at each stage, shows enthusiasm and executes work vigorously)
• Security consciousness (is well versed with security orders and instructions, is always security minded and shows security awareness)
• Technical skill (sound theoretical and practical knowledge of SCO related appointments)

These qualities and overall grading is carried out of 9 as under

Outstanding          – 9

Above average      – 8 or 7

High average         – 6 or 5

Average                 – 4

Low average         – 3 or 2

Below                    – 1

No candidate is graded as 0.

CO has to give in written the Marks. On the basis of this grading the application can be forwarded or rejected. Rather regretting  on all these things, I would like to suggest the Service Entry Personels  to focus on their conduct, in the regiment or in battalion. Maintain you impression,in front of  your seniors.

When these officers recognizes you and when your company commander says that he is good only then it is easier for CO to forward your application.
