Group Planning Exercise is second test in the battery of GTO series and will be conducted immediately after group discussions. The test is one of the most important test of GTO series as it helps GTO to understand 15 qualities of a candidate altogether which includes planning and organising ability through written part of test whereas social adjustment, social effectiveness and dynamism through group discussion .
How Group Planning Exercise (GPE) is Conducted in SSB Interview ?
First a map will be described to the candidates. This will be an imaginary map based on some imaginary place. On the basis of this map an imaginary story will be framed and few problems will be described through this story. Initially GTO will brief this map and narrte the story to the candidates and after this, all candidates will be given a narrative of the same story to go trough (around 5 minutes of time will be given to the candidates to go through the narrative). After 5 minutes the narrative will be collected back by GTO and all candidates will be asked to write down their solutions after analysing various problems. For writing solution GTO will give a plain A4 size paper on which candidates are required to write their respective chest numbers and Batch number on the right hand side top corner of the paper. To write down solutions, candidates will get around 10 minutes of time. Once the process of writing solution will complete and the paper is collected by GTO, whole group will be asked to go for a group discussion to reach on a common solution.
Since all candidates have written their solutions therefore participation in discussion will be higher from every candidate. This is also very clear that all candidates will be having common objectives (for example, if one candidate wants to save the life of an injured person so the other candidates want to do. No candodate want to leave injured person to die). Candidates are advised to contribute other members to reach on a common solution instead of exaggerating the argument in group. One can add calculations and help group understanding that how the problem will be handled considering time, distance and speed. Also one must look for the available and assumed resources, he can look for. Your contribution to your group for reaching on a common solution will decide your value in your group.
Overall GTO will consider both part of the test. (a) your written solution (b) your participation and contribution in group discussion

Narration: VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
You are a group of students of Shyamgarh college returning from Dinapur after winning the Dinapur District Volleyball Championship. The victory celebrations in your college are to start at 7 : 30 pm. As your minibus stopped at the petrol pump-cum garage to get the headlights of the minibus repaired, you saw the attendant lying in a pool of blood. He told you that some anti-social elements had beaten him up and left him for dead before looting all the cash and cutting off the telephone wires. He had managed to overhear their conversation. They planned to exchange a large consignment of drugs in return of Arms from a foreigner near the Rock at 6:45 pm. They had also removed the fish plates of the railway track on the bridge. After telling this the pump attendant falls unconscious. You know that a passanger train coming from Ramgarh crosses the bridge at 6:30 pm. The ferry near Badli village has a motor boat with a speed of 20 Km/h which the villagers use. Roadways buses ply on roads from Ramgarh, Shyamgarh and Dinapur every 30 minutes. Just then one of your friends comes running from the minibus and tells you that he has to take the minibus back to the office of Dinapur College where your Silver Trophy and medals have been left behind. Time now is 5:30 pm. What will you do?
