Guru Nanak Dev Ji Birthday

Guru Nanak Dev- The founder of Sikhism and the first Guru of the Sikhs. His birth anniversary is celebrated as Prakash Parv or Guru Parv. Nanak Ji was born in a village called Talwandi situated on the banks of the Ravi river in Pakistan (Punjab). He was born in 1469 on the day of Kartik Purnima. This day is celebrated with great gaiety in Sikhism.

Guru Nanak Father and Mother Name

He was born in a Hindu Family. Guru Nanak father name was Kalyan or Mehta Kalu Ji. Guru Nanak mother name was Trupti Devi.

It is believed in Sikhism that since childhood, Nanak Dev Ji was rich in special powers. He got to learn a lot from his sister Nanaki. At the age of 16, he got married to Sulakhani. Sulakkhani was a resident of Lakhoki in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab (India). He had two sons Srichand and Lakhmi Chand.

Shortly after the birth of these two children, Nanak went on a pilgrimage. He made long journeys. Mardana, Lahna, Bala, and Ramdas also accompanied him on this journey. He traveled until 1521.

"Sadness" Journey

 During this journey, he used to preach to everyone and make them aware of social evils. He visited many places in India, Afghanistan, and Arabia. These journeys are called "Udasiyan" in Punjabi.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji & Kartapur

Guru Nanak Ji camped at many places during his travels. He opposed social evils. He considered idol worship to be meaningless and opposed orthodox thinking. He spent the last time of his life in Kartarpur, Pakistan. Kartapur is the holy religious place of the Sikhs.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji Death

In the last days of his life, his fame increased a lot and his thoughts also changed. He himself started living with his family and started spending time in the service of humanity. He established a town named Kartarpur, which is now in Pakistan, and built a big Dharamsala in it. Guru Nanak died on September 22, 1539. In Kartarpur, the divine light of Guru Nanak Dev Ji got absorbed in the holding. He succeeded his disciple Bhai Lahna before his death, who later came to be known as Guru Angad Dev. He is considered the second Ra Guru of the Sikhs.

Gurdwara Kandh Sahib-

Batala (Gurdaspur) Guru Nanak was married here at the age of 16 to Bibi Sulakshana on the 24th brother of Samvat in 1544. Every year a festival is organized here on the wedding anniversary of Guru Nanak.

Gurdwara Haat Sahib-

Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala) Guru Nanak through brother-in-law Jairam started the job of looking after the royal store at the Nawab of Sultanpur. He was made Modi here. The Nawab was greatly influenced by the young Nanak. It was from here that Nanak realized his destination through the word 'tera'.

Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh-

Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala) This was the home of Guru Nanak Devji, where his two sons Baba Srichand and Baba Laxmidas were born.

Gurdwara Kothi Sahib-

Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala) Nawab Daulat Khan Lodhi sent Nanakdevji to jail for the fear of irregularities in the accounts. But when the Nawab came to know of his mistake, he not only apologized for leaving Nanak Devji, but also proposed to make him the Prime Minister, but Guru Nanak rejected this offer.

Gurdwara Ber Sahib –

Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala) Once when Guru Nanak was sitting on the bank of the Van river with his friend Mardana, suddenly he took a dip in the river and disappeared for three days, where he interviewed God. did. Everyone was thinking of him as drowned, but when he returned, he said – Ek Omkar Satnam. Guru Nanak sowed the seed of a berry there, which has become a very big tree today.

Gurdwara Achal Sahib-

Gurdaspur Nanak Dev stayed here during his visits and had religious debates with Yogi Bhangar Nath, the chief of Nathpanthi Yogis. The yogi started performing magically after being defeated in all respects. Nanakdevji told him that God can be reached only through love.

Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak- 

Gurdaspur After making many people a follower of Sikhism through lifelong religious tours, Nanakdevji made his camp on his farm situated on the banks of river Ravi and after 70 years of spiritual practice, in 1539 AD. Merged in the supreme light.
