Ayatul Kursi: A Verse Of Protection.

As a Muslim raised in a Muslim household, when I was a kid and got scared of darkness or sleeping alone, my parents used to read Ayatul Kursi to me when I asked about it and they told me it was for protection and after reading it nothing can harm me in my sleep and that it can protect me from all evil.

The strange part to me at the time was that after they read it to me I always felt safe and peaceful in my heart, till I finally saved it and recited it to myself every night when I grew up I felt curious about why Ayatul Kursi specifically is used for protection so I made my research and here is everything you need to know about Ayatul Kursi.

Ayat al-Kursi, positioned as the 255th verse in Surat al-Baqarah, which stands as the longest chapter in the Quran, holds a revered status among believers, acknowledged by many as the pinnacle of Quranic excellence.

Echoing this sentiment, a hadith in Sahih Muslim by Imam Muslim recounts a conversation between the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and his companion Abu Mundhir.

When asked about the greatest verse in the Quran, Abu Mundhir recited Ayat al-Kursi, prompting the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) affirmative affirmation of its paramountcy.

Does Ayatul Kursi Protect You From Evil Eye?

The evil eye, known as “ayn” in Arabic, is a prevalent belief in many cultures and is thought to cause harm, misfortune, or injury to someone due to jealousy or envy.

Reciting Ayatul Kursi is considered a form of seeking divine protection from all forms of harm, including the evil eye.

This protective quality is often attributed to the blessings and spiritual strength contained within the words of Ayatul Kursi.

However, it is essential to approach matters related to spiritual protection with a balanced understanding.

While Ayatul Kursi is revered for its perceived protective qualities, Islamic teachings also emphasize the importance of seeking refuge in God through prayers, supplications, and righteous actions.

Additionally, maintaining a strong faith, practicing gratitude, and adhering to ethical conduct are emphasized as means to safeguard oneself from harm caused by the evil eye or any other negative influences.

Seeking guidance from knowledgeable religious authorities or scholars can provide further insights into the significance of Ayatul Kursi and its role in protecting individuals from the evil eye and other spiritual threats.

It is important to combine spiritual practices with practical measures to ensure holistic well-being and protection from various forms of harm.

Embedded within the practice of ‘Ruqya’—the Islamic treatment for those afflicted by the evil eye, black magic, or jinn possession—resides the recommendation of Ayat al-Kursi as a powerful recitation.

It holds a revered place as a verse of protection and healing, with a historical account from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reinforcing its spiritual significance.

During the time of the Prophet, a Bedouin sought aid for his brother’s mental derangement, and the Prophet recited Ayat al-Kursi among other verses, leading to the brother’s miraculous recovery by Allah’s (SWT) mercy.

It is crucial to note that mental derangement here differs from mental health challenges requiring medical intervention.

Contrasting with superstitious practices, the Islamic faith emphasizes reliance solely on Allah (SWT) for protection.

Therefore, making Ayat al-Kursi a spiritual armor against the machinations of Satan and all forms of harm becomes imperative.
