Darren Benitez, a Renowned Hawaiian Musician and Singer has Died

Darren Benitez, a renowned Hawaiian musician, and singer known for his massive influence on the Hawaiian entertainment industry, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2023.

On Friday, August 11, 2023  news of Darren Benitez's death was confirmed by Hawaiian singer Amy Hanaialii, who said on her Facebook page: "I am so saddened by the news of one of the dearest entertainers passing, Darren Benitez. What a blessed voice. One of my favorites of Leo Ki’eki’e. They don’t make voices like Darren. I know you are with your beloved Momma so happy I got to see you on Mother’s Day. I will miss you. Your voice greeted me saying, aloha Babes. 🙏🏻❤️".



However, the cause of death of Darren Benitez is not yet known.

Darren Benitez is originally from Halawa, Hawaii but Darren Benitez was currently living in Makaha Valley, Hawaii.

Benitez grew up with music since childhood, as his mother, and uncles were all singers in his family.  His family members include his sister Sheryl Sanchez McKeague, Uncle Stan Washington, and his cousins Laura Benitez Bloom, Darrell Bloom, Yolanda Bottomley, and Cloryssa Ann Richbow.

Darren Benitez was pleased with his rapid success and continued advancement among professional Hawaiian music artists.  In 1988, Darren also won a music competition at the Jubilee nightclub.

In the 1990s, Darren Benitez continued the tradition of performing with Uncle Johnny at the Merry Monarch Festival.  Darren's growth as a musician is fueled by inspiration and his constant search to learn more about the music he loves.
