Lathrop Car Accident: Amazon Big Rig Driver Dies After Crash

Lathrop Car Accident, Car Accident Lathrop CA

An Amazon Big Rig driver died after crashing into a building in Lathrop on Thursday near the Interstate 5 freeway.

San Joaquin County Medical Examiner Christy Patterson confirmed the driver's death Friday. The Big Rig driver was identified as Ilkhom Shodiev, a 37-year-old North Carolina resident.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:48 a.m. when Ilkhom Shodiev was operating an Amazon big rig on I-5 between Highway 120 and East Lewis Avenue in Lathrop and struck a building.

Shortly after the accident, California Highway Patrol Dispatch started getting calls that shots had been fired before the accident.  Authorities confirmed that Ilkhom Shodiev was also shot several times while driving and was taken to a regional hospital, where he died during treatment.

Reuben Jones, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, said: It was not yet known who fired the shots or what was the motive for the shooting, and it was not clear how the Amazon driver was involved.

The California Highway Patrol Valley Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU) has taken it into custody for investigation and is now seeking the public's help in solving this case.
