Mapping Imported Salesforce CRM Data in the Data Cloud

Mapping data from Salesforce CRM to other systems is a crucial step in optimizing your business processes. This blog focuses on mapping a contact object imported using the Service Cloud bundle. We will delve into the intricacies of reviewing its mappings and making necessary adjustments to ensure seamless data integration.

By the end, you’ll have a comprehensive understanding of how to streamline your Salesforce data management for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.

Step 1: Verify Data Import

Before we start mapping, ensure that all data from both Salesforce CRM and AWS S3 has been successfully imported into the Data Cloud. If any jobs have not completed, run them to ensure all data is imported correctly.

Step 2: Mapping Data Layer Objects (DLOs) to Data Model Objects (DMOs)

We’ll start with the contact object imported using the Service Cloud data bundle.

  1. Open Contact Object: Click on the contact object. You should see that 40 contact records have been imported successfully.
  2. Review Data Mapping: On the right, you’ll find the data mapping section with 36 fields already mapped. Let’s review these mappings.

Default Mappings

  • The contact is initially mapped to the account contact DMO by default. However, we won’t use this DMO.
  • Scroll to the bottom to review the fields in the address section:
    • Contact Point Email: Email address field.
    • Contact Point Phone: ID, party, and telephone number fields.

Addressing Warnings

A warning indicates that for segmentation resolution and activation, a formatted E.164 phone number needs to be mapped.

  1. Map Phone Number: Select the phone field on the left and locate the business phone.
  2. Map to E.164 Format: Map the business phone to the E.164 phone contact point. Save your changes.

Step 3: Finalizing Mappings

Verify Mappings:

  • Ensure the contact DLO is mapped to the account contact DMO.
  • Check mappings for the contact point address DMO, contact point email DMO, contact phone DMO, and individual DMO.

These mappings are created by default using the Service Cloud data. Keep these default settings and close the mapping section.
