Tags: hindi language

Step into the vibrant variety of languages and cultures as we celebrate World Hindi Day.

A linguistic harmony that resonates across borders, Hindi stands tall as one of the world’s most widely spoken languages. Hindi weaves together the intricate threads of India’s rich history, diverse culture, and identity. Beyond its linguistic ability, Hindi serves as a bridge, uniting speakers of regional languages and fostering communication that goes beyond India.

Did you know?

  • World Hindi Day is celebrated on January 10th each year. It commemorates the anniversary of the first time Hindi was spoken in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 1949.
  • In 1950, the Union of India established Hindi as its official language. Article 343 of the Indian Constitution designates Hindi in the Devanagari script as the official language of India.

Every 3 years, World Hindi Conference is conducted to promote the hindi language

  • First-ever World Hindi Conference happened in Nagpur in 1975
  • A total of 122 representatives from 30 nations attended the conference.

Since then, every three year World Hindi Conference has been conducted to spread awareness of the contribution of Hindi speakers and scholars. This serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage embedded in the language Hindi.

Need to promote Hindi as a medium of instruction in classrooms of India

Cultural Identity and National Unity

Promoting Hindi as a medium of instruction in classrooms helps reinforce and preserve India’s cultural identity. By using Hindi and other local languages as a medium of instruction, teachers can connect students with their cultural roots. Further, Hindi in classrooms promotes a shared understanding and familiar learning environment

Enhanced Communication and Accessibility

A significant portion of the Indian population speaks Hindi. This makes Hindi a language that can bridge communication gaps across different states and regions. Therefore, using Hindi as a medium of instruction can enhance communication among students from various linguistic backgrounds. Further, it will facilitate easier interaction and collaboration, breaking down language barriers and promoting inclusivity in the learning environment.

Socio-Economic Opportunities

Proficiency in Hindi can open up numerous socio-economic opportunities for students. As Hindi is widely used in government offices, and various professional fields, students who are proficient in Hindi are better equipped to navigate the job market. Moreover, Hindi as a medium of instruction can empower students to participate more actively in the economic landscape of the country. This will further contribute to their personal growth and the overall development of society.

As we celebrate World Hindi Day, we extend our heartfelt wishes to all our students, teachers and business fraternity.

At iDream Education, we recognize the significance of preserving our cultural heritage, and on this special occasion, we reiterate our commitment to keeping students connected with Hindi and other Indian languages. We thoughtfully designed our learning platform, iPrep, to be bilingual, providing students and teachers with the flexibility to choose their preferred medium of learning and teaching.

As we embrace linguistic diversity, let us continue to nurture the roots of our heritage and celebrate the beauty of language Hindi on this World Hindi Day and beyond.
