The Canadian government funds initiatives for young people in the expanding tourist and hospitality industries

Particularly for Young Canadians, the tourism and hospitality sector is a significant economic driver and employment provider. The Canadian government is acting to assist kids in being ready for careers in this expanding sector of the economy. Marci Ien, Canada’s Minister of Women, Gender Equality, and Youth, highlighted government investments today in honor of World Tourism Day which helps young people obtain the knowledge, experience, and opportunities they require in the travel and hospitality industry.

These investments include $15 million for eight Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) programs, which will place 1,100 young people. An organization that got financing is Tourism Saskatchewan, whose Ready to Work Tourism Hospitality and Camp Services Careers initiative will provide 180 young people with the training, education, and experience they need to find long-term, steady employment in the tourism industry.

Additionally, the government has contributed $10.3 million through the Student Work Placement Program to Tourism HR Canada’s Propel project, which will create nearly 1,400 work placements for post-secondary students. With this support, youngsters can acquire the abilities required for successful employment after graduation. The Government has been working hard to assist young Canadians, especially those who are having trouble finding jobs, adjusting to the demands of a changing labor market, and recovering from the pandemic’s effects. Today’s announcement is another step in that direction.
