7 G20 Announcements that will make higher study abroad inclusive and accessible

Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”

This Nelson Mandela quote summarizes education’s quintessential role in elevating a learner’s life. Global leaders now recognise the value that higher Education holds in world development and hence have continuously focused on ‘collective global learning’.

In June this year, the Group of Twenty (G20) kickstarted ther collective discussions by meeting on the pivotal role of international education in economic cooperation, shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance. During the G20 Education Ministers’ Meeting (EMM) in June, 150 delegates including 14 ministers from G20 members and guest countries, attended this forum.

Here are seven big takeaways from G20 Education Ministers’ Meeting held that time which prove that this forum is focussed to make Higher Education abroad more inclusive, accessible and available for all :

  1. All G20 members agreed to work together for a resilient, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable future through education
  2. All member countries agreed to ensure that everyone, irrespective of age, gender, socio-economic or cultural background or those who are facing physical, mental or other learning difficulties or special needs have access to quality, inclusive and equitable education
  3. The members agreed that education is not only about academic learning but also about developing life, technical and vocational skills to make all learners ready for their future.
  1. They underlined the need for lifelong learning
  2. Recognized the important role of digital transformations, women-led development, green transition and education for sustainable development and lifestyles to advance the progress towards the achievement of the SDG (Substantial Development Goals)
  1. There was unanimous agreement to ensure that all learners acquire foundational learning. By 2030, the number of children, particularly girls and children with disabilities, will be significantly reduced
  2. In addition to supporting human capital development, all G20 members encouraged collaborative solutions and innovations to promote quality teaching, learning and skilling

G20 members are dedicated to ensure that all individuals have equal access to quality, inclusive, and equitable education and training opportunities. By equipping students around the world with these comprehensive abilities, they become better prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Moreover, the notion of lifelong learning has been strongly emphasized as a key pillar in the G2’s educational framework.
