Welcome to Career Funda!

perspective is different, thinking is also new

Life is only in that, so much has been given!

Same day, same for 24 hours, yet so much difference in output! Let’s learn how successful professionals manage their day after all.

1) Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973)

Picasso used to paint for 8 to 10 hours everyday.

Picasso became a great artist. He painted until the day of his death in 1973! Created over 50,000 artpieces in the most successful career of an artist to date.

His daily life was the same. He used to get up late, and start the day with breakfast and some leisure time with friends. From 2 o’clock in the day to 10 o’clock in the night, he used to paint for 8 hours daily without a break.

The reason he was able to paint for such a long time without getting tired was that he enjoyed his work. In his own words, ‘that’s why painters live so long. When I work, I leave my body outside the door, just as a person takes off his shoes before entering a religious place.’

At 10 pm, Picasso would take a short one-hour break. Then from 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. Picasso would usually have his second working session, which would certainly have been shorter than the day’s session.

2) Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin considers his Coach Ramakant Achrekar as the greatest guru in life.

Sachin’s life was full of hard work since childhood. Due to his passion for cricket, when he took admission in Shardashram School, which was far from his home, Sachin used to travel a long distance in crowded buses of Mumbai to reach Shivaji Park Stadium in the first year, wearing a complete cricket kit.

From the next year, he started living with his uncle, whose house was near the stadium. His coach Ramakant Achrekar would take him to different grounds in Mumbai on his scooter from different teams and make him a snack of vada-pav after winning the match. He played three matches almost daily and did not waste a single moment of his practice sessions. During the travels, he led a very disciplined life. He confined himself to his room, ate early and always got enough sleep before his game. Though he is said to be the most talented batsman of all time, a bigger component of his success than talent is hard work.

3) Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955)

Einstein always kept his working hours regular. Used to work 10 hours a day.

Albert Einstein, who changed the world of physics by giving ‘Theory of Relativity’, knew how to work hard. “I don’t have any special talent,” he said. I am only obsessively curious.’ Albert Einstein worked 10 hours a day, six days a week.

Before becoming a famous professor, he worked at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern. He used to complete the office work in just four hours and then got busy with his scientific papers.

So we learn four lessons from all these famous celebrities and professionals.

1) Inspiration and Recreation: Some of them used to go for long walks in nature. President Barack Obama used to keep ‘no compromise’ attitude in his 45-minute exercise schedule. Swami Vivekananda used to meditate, Sachin was a sports person. The mental benefits of exercise are amazing! The rest of the day becomes productive.

2) Habit of writing down your thoughts or making notes: Beethoven and Obama both wrote a lot. By making notes, you structure your thoughts. In today’s time, you can use any app on mobile phone for this.

3) Saving time and effort: Just like money, ‘A minute saved is a minute earned’. Like Einstein, use the time you have after work, and the weekends off, to accomplish your other goals. For this, consider using a spreadsheet to track how you spend a week. Work hard in this saved time.

4) Regular and Fixed Diet: Almost all successful people have a tremendous discipline regarding diet, because irregular eating or alcohol causes death. What we eat and drink has neurological and physical effects, which have a direct impact on our daily output.

So, today’s career fund is ‘inspiration and recreation in daily routine, writing down your thoughts, skimpy and tight planning of time, and become successful with fixed diet and exercise’.

Will show it!
