What is UPTET?
UPTET is conducted once a year to hire teachers for primary (classes I-V) and upper primary level (VI-VIII) levels for schools in Uttar Pradesh. Over 15 lakh students appear for this exam every year and there are two different shifts of UPTET namely:
- Paper 1: Candidates who wish to become Primary Level teacher
- Paper 2: Candidates who wish to become a Middle School teacher
The UPTET certificate is essential for those applying for teaching profiles in government schools. This certificate is also beneficial if you are planning to apply for private schools in UP. Eligibility Criteria
Here are the key eligibility requirements for UPTET:
- The candidate should be between the age of 18-35 years.
- The candidate should have completed their graduation in any discipline.
- The candidate should be a citizen of India/ Nepal/ Tibet/ Bhutan.
UPTET Primary Teacher Eligibility (Class 1 to 5)
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the last year of a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. OR
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% and passed or appearing in the last year of a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). OR
- Graduation and completion of a two-year diploma programme in elementary education. Aspirants with a Graduation + B.Ed final year appearing & passed can also apply.
UPTET Upper Primary Teacher Eligibility (Class 6 to 8)
- Graduation and completion of or enrollment in the final year of a two-year diploma programme in elementary education. OR
- A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) with a minimum of 50% marks and passing or enrolling in a one-year programme. OR
- Graduation with at least 45% grades and passing or appearing in the NCTE’s 1 year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). OR
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year B.El.Ed. OR
- Senior Secondary with at least 50% and passed or appearing in the last year of a four-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed programme. OR
- Graduation with at least 50% and passing or appearing in a one-year B.Ed. programme.

UPTET Results 2023
