Garmin Approach R10, Portable Golf Launch Monitor , Garmin Indonesia has just launched Approach R10, a portable golf launch monitor. The platform is designed to help golfers improve the user’s game at home, indoors, or the driving range.
Through this product, Garmin wants to capture the golfing trend that occurs in society. According to Maximize Market Research data, there are more than 66 million golfers worldwide.
Countries from Asia Pacific, including Indonesia accounted for more than 40% of the golf equipment market, which is one sign of the high interest in golf.
In Indonesia, there are more than 100 golf courses, and almost half of them are in Jabodetabek area, based on data from deemples. Noted, they serve 200 thousand golfers in Indonesia.
To support beginner to professional golfers in the country, Garmin Approach R10 comes with a variety of smart features.
The device is equipped with more than a dozen key metrics displayed in real-time, including club head speed, ball speed, swing tempo, ball spin, launch angle, and more.
In fact, when paired with the Garmin GolfTM app, users can also take advantage of Training Mode to identify strengths and areas for improvement, automatically record video clips to analyze their swing and utilize the Home Tee Hero golf simulator. These features will help users master and enjoy more than 42,000 golf courses around the world.
Home Tee Hero is a simulator feature in the Garmin Golf App that allows golfers to play on courses around the world with a 3D view. Home Tee Hero will display 10 data, including distance to the hole, distance to the shot target, height difference between ball location and shot target, wind speed and wind direction, shot target that can be moved to the desired location. Hole number information, par for the hole, player scorecard as well as menu options and switching to overhead camera view can also be displayed.

Training Mode

Once training is complete, users can start playing around the world with the Home Tee Hero feature and enjoy weekly tournament features with other users through scores posted to the leaderboard in the Garmin Golf app.

Regarding the business model , Garmin relies on a freemium model by providing a 30-day trial feature. After trying the course virtually, users can subscribe to play on a course close to home with the Home Tee Hero golf simulator.
Premium members also get access to weekly tournaments that offer a new course randomly every week. Approach R10 provides direct compatibility with the E6 CONNECT content library with photo-realistic courses that can be played at any time to enhance the overall golfing experience.
Approach R10 offers up to 10 hours of battery life, allowing golfers to play longer. Regarding the price, Approach R10 portable golf launch monitor is available for Rp 10,399,000 through a pre-order scheme opened from January 18 to January 30, 2023 only at Garmin Brand Stores.
