So let me quickly introduce myself real quick!

My name is Lee. I’m a mom of 4 and a part-time reseller.

I’ve been reselling for over 6 years on various platforms and I’ve made over $100,000 selling used clothes – so you could say that I know a thing or two about making money selling used clothes!

In addition to running my own reselling business, I also help other women start and grow their own reselling businesses.

So why clothes?

So you might be wondering – why clothes.

Why not something else?

Well, if you’re like most people, you probably have clothes sitting around, right?

There’s also a huge demand for used clothes on online marketplaces like eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and even Facebook Marketplace.

In fact, it’s one of the fastest growing used goods markets!

This means there’s plenty of opportunity to make big Money Selling used clothes.

And the opportunity is only going to grow!

Why else clothes?

Well, a lot of reasons.

Once you’ve gone through your own closets, used clothes are very easy to come by.

And it doesn’t usually take a huge upfront investment to get started (in fact, I started with just $7!).

They’re also:

  • easy to list (no major research required, no testing, no trying to figure out model numbers, etc)
  • easy to store (and don’t take up much room)
  • easy to ship (no having to wrestling big boxes or wondering how in the heck you’re going to ship it!)

What about other ways to make money?

Of course there’s many ways to make money.

And many different side hustles you could do.

But most involve having to work on other people’s schedules. (i.e. uber drivers, instacart shoppers)

Or they require you to be sales-y or host parties (essential oils, anyone?).

(I’ve never sold a single item to a friend or family member, and a lot don’t even know I sell used clothes online!)

Instead, selling used clothes is….

  • flexible – you can do it on YOUR schedule
  • perfect for introverts – no having to put yourself out there
  • profitable – you’re going to make more than a measly commission you might make as a direct marketer
  • and best of all – fun!

So how do you get started selling used clothes?

The process is simple to make money selling used clothes.

Just follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to making those first sales:

1) Determine WHAT you’re going to sell

You definitely don’t want to sell EVERYTHING you have – even if you already have the things (or they’re free).

Some things are going to be worth your time.

Some aren’t.

Choose wisely which items you’re going to sell and discard or donate the rest.

2) Determine WHERE you’re going to sell

There’s a lot of platforms that you can sell your things on.

And there’s probably not one right platform for everyone. (But I will say that I make the majority of my used clothes sales on eBay.)

Some other platforms to consider:

  • Poshmark
  • Mercari
  • Facebook Marketplace
  • Tradesy
  • Depop

3) Create a Plan

If you’re wanting to make $500 this week selling used clothes, you’re going to need a plan to make it happen!

This goes for if you’re selling out of your own closet, or flipping clothes.

Schedule time into your calendar for the tasks you need to do.

When you create a plan – and when you’re going to do the things – you’re going to be much more likely to follow through.

Did you know?

Even in just 10 hours, you can make $500 or more reselling used clothes!

It’s a hustle, but worth it to stay home with your kids, or have that extra money for the things that are important.

4) Create your listings

Getting your items listed is as easy as snapping some photos and creating a listing.

You’ll want to be sure that you’re listing in the correct categories. (i.e. platforms usually have separate categories for say sweaters, or activewear hoodie, versus button up shirt or blouse).

You’ll also want to make sure that you’re using keywords that sell.

Keywords are the words people use to search for your items.

They should be included in:

  • title
  • description

5) Get your shipping supplies in order

The last thing you want is for things to sell, and you don’t have a way to ship items.

The amazing thing about selling used clothes is it’s not rocket science to ship!

Most items can go in a poly mailer like this:
