Selection Process to Become IAS Officer
One must take the UPSC Exam to become an IAS Officer. The UPSC Exam has three parts: the Preliminaries, the Mains, and the Interview. If you fail at any point, you end up back at the beginning. The UPSC Prelims comprise two sets of objective multiple-choice questions (General Studies and CSAT), each with a maximum score of 200 points. The CSE Prelims are only used for screening. A candidate’s score on the test is not used to determine their final rank.
About twelve to thirteen times as many people are allowed to take the UPSC Mains Exam as there are expected openings during the notice year. The UPSC Mains test is only open to people who passed the Prelims and were told the Commission qualified them.
For the UPSC Interview, only two to three times as many people are called as the number of open jobs that year. The Commission can decide how many positions it wants to fill or how many people it thinks are qualified to join the Central Group A and B services.
