University presidents, a dean of a medical school, a superintendent of schools, and a staff surgeon round out the list of the highest paid public officials on GOBankingRates, all of whom made less than $1 million in 2018.

These public workers nevertheless received significant wages, ranging from $231,210 to $876,442 annually.
