For the greater good of Quantum computing, Microsoft and Quantinuum have declared a significant breakthrough in making advanced Quantum computers. This technology will bring the dreams of commercially viable quantum computing true, and are closer than ever before. 

The race to create functional and efficient quantum computers is enhancing. The superiors in tech, like Microsoft, Google and IBM are competing against each other and even nation states to harness the power of quantum mechanics. 

These machines are stated to be much more efficient and are said to have faster processing speeds than traditional silicon based computers which will enable scientific breakthroughs which would have taken millions of years on current technology. 

Jason Zander, who is Microsoft’s executive vice president for strategic missions and technologies, claimed that the company ensures the best ratio of reliable qubits from a quantum chip that has never been shown. 

Zander stated in an interview that, “We ran more than 14,000 individual experiments without a single error. That’s upto 800 times better than anything on record.”

Microsoft has also said that it also plans on releasibg technology to its cloud computing users in the next few months.

Quantum researchers and experts, at Quantinuum as well as it’s competitors have frequently cited a figure of about 100 reliable qubits as the number needed to beat a conventional supercomputer. Although, Microsoft and Quantinuum have still not announced how many more years will it take to utilise the latest technique in order to reach 100 reliable qubits.
