Kenya’s President to Inaugurate Prestigious Zimbabwe Trade Fair

In a significant announcement, the Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister, Jenfan Muswere, revealed that President William Ruto of Kenya will officially open the 2024 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). This landmark event is set to take place from April 23 to April 27 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second-largest city. This year’s fair, which is the 64th edition, promises to be a pivotal gathering under the banner of “Innovation: The Catalyst for Industrialisation and Trade,” focusing on fostering industrial growth and expanding trade through innovative practices.

Preparations and Expectations

The preparations for the ZITF are progressing smoothly, with refurbishments and logistical arrangements being fine-tuned to ensure a seamless experience for all attendees. According to Minister Muswere, the event will showcase the vibrant potential of the private sector, with a strong emphasis on the role of innovation in driving economic development. An impressive lineup of 466 direct exhibitors has already registered, including 65 newcomers, highlighting the fair’s appeal and its significance as a platform for businesses to showcase their innovations and forge new partnerships.

A notable feature of this year’s fair is the substantial international presence, with 25 exhibitors from 21 different countries, including notable economies such as the United States, the European Union, China, and several African nations. This diverse international participation underscores the ZITF’s role as a global nexus for business and trade discussions.

A Week of Engaging Activities

The event will not only serve as a trade fair but also host a range of activities designed to promote dialogue and collaboration among businesses from around the world. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is scheduled to inaugurate the ZITF Welcome Cocktail and the International Business Conference, setting the tone for a week of productive exchanges. Additional highlights include the ZITF Charity Golf Challenge, the Diplomats Forum focusing on economic partnerships, and the Connect Africa Symposium aimed at discussing sustainable progress through entrepreneurship.

The culmination of the fair will be marked by the Official Opening Ceremony, followed by the ZNCC Business Luncheon, showcasing the best of what Zimbabwean and international businesses have to offer. The event is expected to not only provide a platform for showcasing innovations but also to foster meaningful discussions on industrialisation and trade, making it a must-attend for industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
