The vagabond poem class 7 with meaning .

Give to me the life I Love,
Let the lave go by me,
Give the jolly heaven above
And the byway nigh me.
Bed in the bush with stars to see,
Bread I dip in the river –
There’s the life for a man like me,
There’s the life for ever.

Meaning —-
A vagabond (a wanderer) would like to live a life full of inexplicably traveling, and all the vagabond wants to do is move between different places. Therefore, he’s looking for the lifestyle the way he would like to live and wishes to let the rest of the world be a blur, which implies that he doesn’t care about things that are material such as money, assets, or any other thing. He is longing for the great outdoors and the skies as his backdrop and the path to follow. He longs for a cozy bed in the forest where one can look out at the sky. The poet is content with an ordinary life and loves to dip his bread into the river instead of drinking coffee or tea. It is the way he would like to live.

Let the blow fall soon or late,
Let what will be o’er me;
Give the face of earth around
And the road before me.
Wealth I seek not, hope nor love,
Nor a friend to know me;
All I seek, the heaven above
And the road below me.

Meaning — The poet is saying that he’s prepared for the possibility of death, which could be a reality sooner or later and if not happen, he’s got the possibility to travel around the world, and the sky above. He is not looking to be rich, ambitious romantic love, or even companionship. All he wants is the world over him and the way below him.

Or let autumn fall on me
Where afield I linger,
Silencing the bird on tree,
Biting the blue finger.
White as meal the frosty field –
Warm the fireside haven –
Not to autumn will I yield,
Not to winter even!

Meaning – The stanza describes the challenges that come with living outdoors during autumn. The poet discusses the difficult situations one encounters when living outdoors in the fall. The land appears empty in autumn, when the leaves are falling from the trees. The birds have quit singing and aren’t visible among the trees. The winter frigidity is so severe that blood freezes and the fingers turn blue. The snow has blanketed the pastures. The only spot where a vagabond can find comfort and warmth is the flames. Even the harshest circumstances, according to the poet, won’t prevent a vagabond to live in the open air, since the only thing he wants is freedom above all else.

Let the blow fall soon or late,
Let what will be o’er me;
Give the face of earth around,
And the road before me.
Wealth I ask not, hope nor love,
Nor a friend to know me;
All I ask, the heaven above
And the road below me.

Meaning – The poet says that he’s prepared to die, which is likely to be a reality sooner or later and if not happen, he’s got the road ahead to explore the whole world, and the skies above him. He doesn’t have a desire for wealth, ambition romantic love, or even companionship. The only things he desires is the heaven above him and the road under him.
